Coziness Valley
Our main challenge in this project was how to create a new center for the city while preserving its nature and limited previous functionality.
Our masterplan contains two circular passages: one near the streets (edges) and the other in the middle of the site. Cultural and recreational programs connect the city to the rings, including a gallery, cinema complex, relaxation center, kindergarten, music center, library, indoor amusement park, retail spaces, and coworking areas.
We also included a bandy field, hockey field, and ice-skating area. The locations of these programs were chosen based on the presence of trees, ensuring minimal disruption to nature.
The project also introduces towers that contrast Murmansk’s traditionally low-rise buildings, offering scenic views of the city and polar sky.
